Leading Business Magazine Presents “100 Great Supply Chain Projects” of 2012

SYSPRO, a developer of best-of-breed, award-winning enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for on-premise and cloud-based utilization, today announced the company’s inclusion on the 10th annual list of the Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100, a compilation of “100 Great Supply Chain Projects” issued annually by Supply & Demand Chain Executive Magazine. SYSPRO was selected based upon the highly effective utilization of SYSPRO ERP Software by Samuel Strapping Systems, a manufacturer and supplier of a broad range of steel and plastic strapping, hand tools, edge protection, stretch film equipment and consumable, as well as standard and custom engineered unitizing equipment. Samuel Strapping utilized SYSPRO ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) to reduce inventories by $2 million while still meeting customer demand. In addition, Samuel Strapping employed SYSPRO ERP and its fully integrated Preactor Advanced Planning and Scheduling System (APS) to facilitate “green” practices.

Patrick Hoffmann, Samuel Strapping Director of Inventory and Operational Analysis, says that the effectiveness of SYSPRO Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) was initially proven in a comparative study. “Samuel Strapping installed SYSPRO MRP in one of the company’s two plastic plants and did a comparison of the operational effectiveness of both plants. The plant using SYSPRO MRP was better able to maintain inventory levels and meet customer demands despite demand fluctuation.” Hoffmann explains, “Due to the seasonal nature of our products, demand can exceed inventory levels. However, by targeting an inventory level steady around the mean and adjusting production levels, a process we call ‘inventory modulation,’ we maintain steady inventory levels while maintaining delivery schedules.”

According to Barry Hochfelder, Editor, Supply & Demand Chain Executive Magazine, “Eleven years ago, Supply & Demand Chain Executive announced its first ‘100’ list of supply chain solution providers, consultants and other organizations that were helping lead the way in transforming companies’ supply and demand chains. With this year’s Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100, we are featuring ’100 Great Supply Chain Projects’ that demonstrate the broad spectrum of opportunities for enabling excellence in the supply chain,” he said.
“Our goal with this year’s ’100′ is to put the spotlight on successful and innovative transformation projects that are delivering bottom-line value to small, medium and large enterprises across the different functions that comprise the supply chain,” Hochfelder added. “The projects featured in the ’100′ article can serve as a roadmap for supply chain executives looking for new opportunities to drive improvement in their own operations.”
